As Sunlight Radio broadcast engineer you will install, maintain,
modify, operate and repair broadcast equipment and systems, including
the latest multimedia technology, in a variety of locations and
situations and radio.
Working alongside others in the technical department, you will work
on a wide range of equipment and systems to ensure that programmes
are transmitted across radio networks at the correct times and to
the highest standards of technical quality.
Many programmes are broadcast from studios but can also include
outside broadcasts (OBs) when sound are transmitted from different
locations back to a main studio.
Typical activities include:
designing and setting up audio systems ;
manufacturing and repairing multimedia hardware, software and other
broadcast technology systems;
utilising knowledge of analogue and digital systems;
installing, testing and maintaining technical facilities including
transmission, editing and studios;
setting up and monitoring audio links with a variety of different units;
maintaining specialist equipment for broadcast and satellite
transmission and interactive media;
analysing and rectifying technical faults;
identifying and implementing alternative ways of meeting requirements
to cover equipment failures, with minimum loss of service;
investigating new techniques and equipment;
custom-making electronic systems for programmes;
setting up and operating links for outside broadcasts;
building a knowledge of and utilising an awareness of health and
safety in the workplace;
problem solving;
listening carefully and being able to interpret instructions and requests;
communicating effectively with own team and other project members;Playout Systems

Audio Software and Phone System: Audio Software includes Adobe Audition, Audacity (as well as Playout Systems)
Telephony Includes Voice over IP (VoIP), IP Telephony (Includes Cisco Call Manager), Trixbox, Traditional PBX Systems
SMS/MMS System Packages.
